INVESTING IN STATE-OF-THE-ART POST-16 EDUCATION FACILITIES FOR RAINHAM'S YOUNG PEOPLE

Harris Academy Rainham is working with the Department for Education to deliver a fantastic new Sixth Form Centre for Rainham, to address an identified need for further educational provision in the town. The proposed new Sixth Form will provide state of the art facilities for 400 local young people across two year-groups, delivering first class post-16 education to prepare students for further education, university, training or employment.

ISG Construction has been appointed to build Rainham’s new Sixth Form and following a comprehensive programme of online community consultation, has now submitted a planning application for the building.

Rainham’s new Sixth Form will be built on the site of the changing facilities and disused swimming pool, adjacent to the school sports hall at Harris Academy Rainham. The drab single-storey concrete block will be demolished to make way for a new building incorporating high quality design and materials, housing state of the art learning facilities as well as space for community use. The new Sixth Form will also incorporate new tree planting and landscaping to greatly enhance the school’s frontage onto Wennington Road.

A planning application for the new Sixth Form was submitted to London Borough of Havering Council in May 2021. You can view the full planning application and all the technical documents on the Council’s website

UPDATE - HARRIS RAINHAM SIXTH FORM SECURES PLANNING APPROVAL

We are delighted to confirm that at a specially convened meeting on 7th February 2022, councillors on Havering Borough Council’s Strategic Planning Committee voted unanimously to approve our plans for a new Sixth Form for Rainham. The decision follows a lengthy planning process, with extensive work with key stakeholders and Havering Borough Council’s planning and highways teams to ensure the plans mitigated against any impact on local infrastructure. The positive outcome at the planning committee meeting means that we can at last get on with delivering much-needed post-16 educational provision for young people in Rainham.
